Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee is a diversity-focused, social awareness brand team within AAF that connects members across agencies. Our mission is to create a safe and empowering environment where students can advocate for themselves and underrepresented groups within the advertising industry. Through education, discussions on media equity, and event planning, we strive to promote inclusivity beyond what is seen on screen. DEI also provides professional development opportunities, collaborates with on-campus organizations committed to diversity, and raises awareness for important DEI-related causes.

What We Do

Previously we have covered topics including Black Lives Matter, LGBTQIA+, Feminism, and Mental Health awareness. Each topic is broken down by analyzing different aspects of intersectionality. By discussing the intersectionality of these topics, it helps dismantle stereotypes and implicit biases by showing that individuals all have different experiences based on their unique identities. It also reveals the complexity of these issues as they are layered together. DEI doesn’t only just talk about these movements but also learns what is currently happening and what can be improved for diversity and inclusivity in advertising agencies. 

Our Work

Cultural Movie Night

DEI hosts yearly movie nights which showcase movies that highlights different culture. Previously, we have viewed Disney's "The Princess & The Frog" and Senegalese movie "Atlantics".

Diverse & Dine 2023

The DEI team made the Diverse & Dine event annual, so they made it bigger and better! The team planned the entire fall 2023 semester and settled on a travel theme. AAF members booked a flight with DEI airlines and travelled to different corners of the world by tasting food from multiple cultures!
